Summary of Events for 2018

2018 is coming to an end and we’re so thankful for all the support that has been given to us this year. Below is a brief summary on the events that Rendeur and H.E.R Entrepreneur has participated and done.

In January, one of our first events was a session on “Steps to Starting a New Business” with a group of ladies. During the 3-day course, they presented their interesting ideas for their niche market.

On 18th January-30th January, we had a 3-part “Sales 101: Converting prospects to sales” workshop to educate those in sales roles and entrepreneurs.

On 19th January, we conducted a corporate training for a retailer on the 21st century quality customer service to empower staff to serve customers with excellence in service and solve problems onsite immediately.

 

On 20th January, our Founder, Renee Tan was invited to speak at PSB Academy on the topic on “Women Empowerment in Entrepreneurship and Leading the Millenials”.

In March, our Founder was invited to speak at HubSpot & The Co.’s networking session – “Women in Tech” with a panel of women in tech to learn more about their journeys and their success stories.

Next was a business trip to Manila. Our Founder went with fellow business owners to explore opportunities, meet local entrepreneurs and government officials in Philippines. She had the privilege to meet the CEO of Zalora Philippines, Taguig officials and the SM mall operator.

 

On 22 March, we organised a networking session with esteemed speakers – Ronny Tome (CEO of Ducatus Global), Nim Sivakumaran (Chief Connector of The Co.), Cheryl Wee (Founder of Cheryl W Wellness & Weight Management) at PSB Academy and our Founder as the moderator. The topic was “Being Undisrupted – How businesses can remain competitive & overcome digital disruptions?”

In April, we got to go on another business mission trip to Kuala Lumpur with other business owners and had our LearnXNetwork event at KL, Eco Ardence Sales Gallery Persiaran Setia Alam, Shah Alam.

In May, we got to meet and discuss collaboration opportunities with like-minded entrepreneurs from SewSuite that aims to transform and uplift the community of marginalised women at Platform E – a platform to groom & grow start-ups through nurturing the Founders.

We also got a chance to highlight our platforms and programs in Rendeur and H.E.R Entrepreneur to other fellow entrepreneurs and was fortunate enough to have Former Minister Yaacob Ibrahim visit our booth at the SMCCI convention at Furama Riverfront.

On 8 May, Rendeur co-organised a half-day workshop with Yellow Pages on the topic of “Omni Channel – Sales & marketing strategies to scale your business fast”

On 9 May 2018, our Founder was invited to BINUS Jakarta BNCC International Conference at BINUS University, organised by KinderjaPay to share with students about her experience in the start up scene, insights on her strategies and her experience in preparing for a start up in Jakarta.

In July, our Founder was invited to be interviewed on 938Now’s Lunchtime talk on the “Thinking Out Loud” segment hosted by Daniel Martin. She shared her thoughts on the female entrepreneurship scene in Singapore and what support is needed to push more women to consider becoming an entrepreneur here. We co-organised an “EmpowHER Networking session” @ Ducatus Cafe for entrepreneurs and others that are interested in financial literacy and cryptocurrency. Our participants was able to connect with potential clients and business owners during the event and learn more about our initiatives to empower female entrepreneurs too.

On 23-24 July, Rendeur organised a 2-day workshop – “Understanding Consumer Behaviour for more Effective Sales & Marketing Strategies” to address challenges faced by companies from understanding consumer behaviour to SPINing your customers and writing an effective proposal.

On the last day of July, we headed out to the streets and filmed a campaign to raise awareness of H.E.R and interview the public on entrepreneurship. Watch our video at https://youtu.be/iBUzSGGutHQ

In August, we had a sit-down interview with Steen Puggaard (CEO of 4Fingers Crispy Chicken Singapore), Cheryl Wee (Founder of Cheryl W), Nura (Founder of Pearlista), Khai Lin (Co-founder and Chief Financial Officer at Fundnel) and Ronny Tome (CEO of Ducatus Global) on why they started their business and the challenges they faced. In September, we had another LearnXNetwork session (6 September 2018) for women entrepreneurs and leaders to learn, share insights and forge partnerships. We featured short speaking sessions by successful start-up owners themselves and was pleasantly surprised by the dynamics of the discussion which involved everyone, where we got to know each other on a personal basis too. As we had a diverse group of attendees (ladies & gentlemen, young & mature), we learnt from each other’s perspective on entrepreneurship, leadership & relationship.

We had our biggest event of the year in the same month with our 2nd Annual H.E.R Asia Summit. It was held on 26 September 2018 convened more than 200 over entrepreneurs, leaders and investors from various industry sectors, from retail, technology, manufacturing to education and consultancy, among many others across Asia Pacific at the Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre, Singapore. The theme for the year was Grow and Digitalise your Business for Future Success. It was graced by Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth as the Guest-of-Honour and the keynote session was presented by May Ooi, Former Olympian, Entrepreneur and ONE Athlete from ONE Championship. In October, we were at a career fair organised by e2i interviewing candidates to join us as associates, part-time or full-time trainers & sales professionals.

In November, we had a successful session for our client, Oracle Netsuite to educate SMEs on how to embrace cloud technology to increase productivity & efficiency in the workplace. We also had great Spanish delights to complement the oversubscribed event which was full house.

We also  had a chance to be part of the Interchamber night organised by Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SMCCI) which was graced by Minister Chan Chun Sing and Minister Masagos Zulkifli. It was an interesting getaway by the beach with song, fashion show and great food. Our very own Founder also received a token from Minister Masagos Zulkifli for our continued friendship & partnership with the SMCCI.

On 13 November 2018, H.E.R Entrepreneur collaborated with Mompreneur Asia for a networking event at Common Ground, Bukit Bintang, KL with 150 registrants, to discuss about two key topics – ‘Building Successful Next Generation Businesses’ and ‘Taking Your Home Grown Brand Global’ with our esteemed speakers from Malaysia. In December – we went for our last business mission trip for the year in Thailand. Our Founder got to meet the Thai governor, Chamber of Commerce and other fellow Singaporean entrepreneurs who have are based in Thailand. She also met with the Chairperson from BISPA Biz Innovation Science Park Association of Thailand and was given the opportunity to present to the staff of the incubator on how to build a sustainable community today.

 

We also did a childcare workshop about Changing Mindsets with the teachers from My First Skool.
