Staying Productive during Covid-19 Lockdown

As we continue to battle the Covid-19 Pandemic, most companies have already started to shift all operations to allow workers to work from home as a measure to minimise interactions between colleagues and protect each other from the virus.

However, staying productive while at home may serve to be a challenging feat, with the numerous distractions and the more informal setting at home.

Hence, we decided to put together a list of tips you could adopt to stay productive while working from home.

1. Get ready for the day

Set yourself up for success when working from home by having a morning routine – Make yourself a hot cup of coffee or go for a run. Afterwards, put on your typical set of office wear to get into the right headspace, so that means no pajamas!

2. Select a space based on your needs

Does your work require more creativity, or do you need a quiet environment to focus better? Setting up a makeshift “office space” that complements your needs at work is essential in boosting productivity by getting you in the right state of mind to produce quality work.

3. Declutter

Whenever you work from home, claim a clutter-free zone. Being surrounded by clutter will not only distract you but also has a psychological effect on you, making it harder to focus intensely on the work at hand. Decluttering will then help you stay focused on your workload and remain more aligned with your typical workplace experience.

4. Set your schedule

The lack of a pre-determined work schedule may put off your productivity when working from home. Establish your start time, midday break periods and what time you’ll clock out for the day. Identify your day’s assignments and slot them in accordingly.

5. Log off

Although you have unlimited access to work materials, a healthy work-life balance is essential. It becomes even easier to lose track of time while working without the reminder of your colleagues leaving the office. Create boundaries by setting an alarm at the end of the day and log off both offline and online.
